Project Engineer - New Construction
DEPARTMENT:New Construction
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Designated Project Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Engineer reports to their designated Project Manager and assists the department in meeting goals through administrative and accounting support functions and some on site inspection responsibilities.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Generate spreadsheets for project tracking and estimating
- Initiate and take responsibility for submittal process
- Modify project schedules with Project Manager and Superintendents input
- Review shop drawings for accuracy
- Job-site visitation for verification of existing conditions
- Take meeting notes, produce and distribute to attendees
- Attend punch-list meetings and assist in generating punch-list document
- Produce and coordinate “Operations Manuals” and “As Built Drawings for Owners”
- Assist Project Manager as needed
EDUCATIONAL REQUIRMENTS
At least two years of work experience in a construction environment or an AA degree and one year of work experience in a similar environment or a Construction Management Certificate.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Solid background in construction methods and philosophies
- Comfortable operating in PC environment with basic skills including: creating documents and spreadsheets using MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook. Knowledge of Prolog, Timberline, and/or MS Project a plus
- Ability to accurately read and interpret blue prints and shop drawings
- Strong attention to detail
- Capable of positively representing the company through strong and professional verbal and written communication skills

Project Manager - New Construction
DEPARTMENT:New Construction
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Team Leader in Senior Management
JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Manager has the responsibility of establishing and directing all aspects of construction management, information flow and documentation between the Owner, Architect, Tenant and Field Superintendent. The Project Manager is required to set procedures; establish construction schedules; interpret and clarify construction documents as to the intent of the Architect and the Owner and qualify all sub-contract bids to ensure that they are complete and thorough. It is the Project Manager’s responsibility for project startup through to completion and final billing.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Budget estimating of potential projects for various owners
- Estimating or bidding or projects
- Assist in the value engineering process if necessary
- Generate Contractor/Owner contract with assistance of Construction manager
- Assist with permitting process if necessary
- Subcontractor qualification and buyout process
- Subcontractor administration
- Develop schedule in conjunction with Field Superintendent addressing all critical path areas
- Issue project startup package to Field Superintendent, Accounting and Administration
- Project coordination, communication and problem solving with Field Superintendent
- Conduct Owner, Architect, Tenant, Contractor meetings
- Maintain project files keeping them current and up to date
- Coordinate shop drawings and submittal processing
- Coordinate change order process from start to finish
- Make visits to jobsite to evaluate all aspects of project
- Review and approve all project bills
- Review project costs weekly to identify and variances from original estimate
- Provide project completion percentages to assure proper billings
- Assist in punch-list walk-through and completion of list
- Send out letters of appreciation with project evaluation sheet or setup exist interview for project evaluation
- Upon completion of project, evaluate project with management and field supervision
- Track all pay applications and invoices, and follow-up on past due accounts
- Follow-up with clients at the end of each project
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and maintain client relationships with new and established to foster new business and promote Unimark Construction Group’s products and services
- Attend professional organization meetings to promote our company image
- Organize, track and develop marketing for UNIMARK Construction
EDUCATIONAL REQUIRMENTS
BA or BS Degree in Business, Engineering or preferably in Construction Management with ten (10) years previous experience in a construction management environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Solid background in construction, bidding and estimating
- Proven track of problem solving issues including but not limited to Owner, Architect, Field, Superintendent, personnel and project hindrances
- Professional appearance and attitude, possessing strong verbal and written communication to represent Unimark Construction Group in a positive and professional manner
- Thorough knowledge of Project Management coordination and scheduling
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints and shop drawings accurately
- Proficient at reading, writing and comprehending contractual legal documents and/or draft addendum’s
- PC literate for correspondence, spread sheet tracking and project management coordination, including basic skills with MS Office. Knowledge of Prolog, Timberline and/or MS Project a plus
- Demonstrates established and consistent methods of multi-tasking abilities and attention to detail
